The Westwood Redhawks will head out on the road to challenge the Irmo Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westwood is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
Westwood and the Blazers (ranked 40 and 15 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile match. Westwood took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blazers on Friday.
Despite their defeat, Westwood saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. TJ Bell, who scored 24 points, was perhaps the best of all. Bell has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dontae Walters, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Irmo was the victim of a rough 69-46 defeat at the hands of the Falcons on Friday. While losing is never fun, Irmo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Falcons are ranked 18th).
Westwood's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-2. As for Irmo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.
Westwood beat the Yellowjackets 50-39 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
