The Salesian Eagles will head out to face off against the Moore Catholic Mavericks at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Salesian has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Salesian is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 13-7 to All Hallows. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Amir Inoa was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Kristopher Paredez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Moore Catholic got themselves on the board against Cardinal Hayes on Friday, but Cardinal Hayes never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 13-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mavericks needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
KENNY VAZQUEZ looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Moore Catholic is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4-1 otherwise.
On the hitting side, CHARLES ELLIS was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was ANTHONY DIGEROLAMO, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Moore Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cardinal Hayes only posted an OBP of .294.
Moore Catholic pushed their record up to 4-5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Salesian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Salesian might still be hurting after the 14-5 loss they got from Moore Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
