It was a good run, but the Central Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Sonoraville 54-49. Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sonoraville apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on January 9th.
When it comes to explaining why Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Khaven Cochran. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with nine rebounds. Cochran hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Connor Williams was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Central's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-3. As for Sonoraville, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Temple at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. Temple will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Central is ranked 69th). As for Sonoraville, they will be playing at home against Cedartown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
