On Tuesday, the South Sevier Rams faced the Beaver Beavers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. South Sevier narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Beaver 59-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
South Sevier got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kinley Jenson out in front who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Jenson hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Kanzas Mills, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists.
South Sevier pushed their record up to 17-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Beaver, their loss ended a 16-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Sevier will challenge Parowan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully South Sevier focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for Beaver, they will head out on the road to challenge Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Enterprise will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Beaver is ranked 18th).
