The Ayersville Pilots will challenge the Antwerp Archers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ayersville has ten straight victories, Antwerp has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Ayersville made easy work of Kalida and carried off a 15-5 win. The Pilots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Kendra Waldron made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since April 1st.
In other batting news, Daniella Coble was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Allison Eldridge was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Ayersville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Antwerp came up short against Montpelier on Monday and fell 6-1.
Antwerp saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elle Clem, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Clem has hit this season.
Ayersville pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Antwerp, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ayersville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Antwerp struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Ayersville's way against Antwerp when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Ayersville made off with a 10-1 victory. Do the Pilots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Archers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
