Baseball Game Preview: Laredo LBJ Wolves vs. Del Rio Rams

Laredo LBJ is 2-8 against Del Rio since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Laredo LBJ Wolves will welcome the Del Rio Rams at 1:00 p.m. Laredo LBJ's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Del Rio's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Laredo LBJ will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Del Rio, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Laredo LBJ blew past Del Rio 10-3 on Tuesday. Considering the Wolves have won five games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Leonardo Alvarez was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Laredo LBJ let Jorge Figueroa and Enrique Loyola run wild. Figueroa scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Loyola scored two runs while going 4-for-5. Those three runs gave Figueroa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Guillermo Montes, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Laredo LBJ hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Laredo LBJ has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Del Rio is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
