The Providence Athletic Club Panthers will face off against the Augusta E Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Providence Athletic Club has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Providence Athletic Club lost 13-2 to Patrick Henry Academy last Wednesday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jacob Edwards made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Augusta E came tearing into Saturday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Cavaliers as they made off with a 13-3 win. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly ten runs.
Jaiden Jacobsen was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Carson Brown, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Augusta E always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in six consecutive contests.
Augusta E pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Providence Athletic Club, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Providence Athletic Club has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Augusta E struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Providence Athletic Club came up short against Augusta E in their previous meeting back in March, falling 8-4. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
