Volleyball Recap: Humboldt Starts off Right with Win over Jayhawk Linn

Humboldt gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Jayhawk Linn Jayhawks by a score of 2-0. For the Cubs, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Jayhawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Humboldt never let Jayhawk Linn on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-16.

Humboldt's offense was headlined by Lakyn Meadows and Ricklyn Hillmon, who picked up seven kills apiece. Meadows really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 11. Bailey Daniels and Skylar Hottenstein kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Jayhawk Linn's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Humboldt didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against St. Mary's-Colgan on the 2nd. As for Jayhawk Linn, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Santa Fe Trail on Tuesday.
