Softball Recap: Artesia Has No Trouble Against Deming

While Artesia put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Deming. Artesia put the hurt on Deming with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Katrin Marquez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makayla Lujan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Artesia lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Artesia's record is now 6-4. As for Deming, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Artesia wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Alamogordo on the 21st. As for Deming, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against Los Lunas on the 22nd.
