The Bermudian Springs Eagles will square off against the Littlestown Thunderbolts at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bermudian Springs is coming into the match hot, having won their last 15 games.
On Tuesday, Bermudian Springs needed a bit of extra time to put away Susquehannock. They won by a run and slipped past the Warriors 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 28th.
Dylan Hubbard and Brayden Heller made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Hubbard pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Heller struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Hubbard has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Hubbard got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, while Heller went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Heller has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nate Keller, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Lane Hubbard also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Littlestown came out on top against York County Tech on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run fifth inning. The Thunderbolts put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 15-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Thunderbolts in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won nine in a row.
Like Bermudian Springs, Littlestown also got a great game from a two-way player: Braylen Branham. He tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Branham was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs. He has become a key player for Littlestown: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Lucas Bacher was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five RBI and one double. Connor Dillon was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Bermudian Springs' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Littlestown, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6-1.
Littlestown's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bermudian Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. It's a different story for Littlestown, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Bermudian Springs' hitters?
