It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Mountain View Toros had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Tigers onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. Mountain View might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matches by three goals or more this season.
They hit Gilbert with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Diana Cota-Ruiz,
Tessa Christensen, and
McKenna Johnson.
The victory was the sixth in a row for Mountain View, bringing their record for this year to 14-4-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those six matchups. As for Gilbert, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9-1 record this season.
Mountain View will square off against Tucson High Magnet School at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tucson High Magnet School is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Mountain View a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the pitch. Gilbert does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
