Baseball Recap: Shorewood Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Shorewood, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Archbishop Murphy Wildcats 13-2 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Stormrays, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Reid Oliveto tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Shorewood got a massive performance out of Jameson Connolly, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Connolly has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Finn Liekkio, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Shorewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Shorewood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Murphy, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-5.

Shorewood will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
