Charlotte Country Day School hasn't had much luck against Providence Day recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers will welcome the Providence Day Chargers at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Saturday, Charlotte Country Day School humbled Ravenscroft with a 70-34 victory. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Ravens are ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charlotte Country Day School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sam Vanderhave, who went 9 for 14 on her way to 22 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. The game was Vanderhave's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olive Bigham, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 19 points and four steals.
Meanwhile, Providence Day had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 49-16 victory over Australian Horizons (Horizon, Australian).
Charlotte Country Day School better focus on containing Ginny Anne Dumont and Julia O?Malley as the pair were huge in Providence Day's win. Dumont went 5 of 10 on her way to 10 points and three steals, while O?Malley posted eight points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Ramsden, who had three points and four steals.
Providence Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.
Charlotte Country Day School pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Providence Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Charlotte Country Day School came up short against Providence Day in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 51-42. Can Charlotte Country Day School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
