Softball Recap: Bingham Gets the Win

While Bingham's victory against Mountain Ridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Miners sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Sentinels on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Miners have posted since March 26th.

The team relied heavily on Tatum Ewing, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Peyton Poleki, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Bingham hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.

Bingham is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Mountain Ridge, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bingham will challenge Grand County at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Mountain Ridge, they will face off against Westlake at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sentinels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunder have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
