The Tyler Knights's eight-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Saturday. They managed a 57-53 victory over Lincoln County. Tyler's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Jules Lattea was the offensive standout of the match as she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. She set a new season high mark in steals with five. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Highley, who scored nine points.
Despite the defeat, Lincoln County saw an underclassman step up: Chevelle Salmons scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Salmons scored a full 39.6% of Lincoln County's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Hayden Moore was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Tyler's win bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Lincoln County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tyler and Clay-Battelle will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lincoln County is on the road again on Thursday and play against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. Liberty is on a three-game streak of home losses, Lincoln County a six-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
