The Lathrop Malemutes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. The contest between Lathrop and Nome-Beltz wasn't particularly close, with Lathrop falling 74-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Malemutes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Skinner, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Jewitt Hill was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Lathrop's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Nome-Beltz, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lathrop and North Pole will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Nome-Beltz will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Unalakleet at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
