The FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 30-20 to Vernon. FAMU DRS was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Vernon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2018.
Vernon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Scott led the charge by rushing for 151 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 46 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Scott hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dedrien Peterson, who gained 128 total yards and a touchdown.
FAMU DRS's loss was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-3 Port St. Joe and 8-3 The First Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.6% over those games). As for Vernon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.
FAMU DRS does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Vernon also has no future games currently scheduled.
