Chaparral is 0-3 against Belton since March of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bobcats will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Chaparral is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
If Chaparral beats Belton with 14 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Waco on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.
Madison Edwards made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Edwards was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-5. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Kendal Macklin was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Hudson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Chaparral kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waco only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Belton suffered their closest defeat since March 2, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of University by a score of 7-5. The Tigers have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Hailey Schutz was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4.
Belton's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Chaparral, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chaparral hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Belton struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chaparral might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Belton in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Bobcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
