Rio Linda hasn't had much luck on the road recently (they'd lost four straight dating back to last season) but thanks in part to Joseph Corey that streak is no more. The Knights were the clear victors by a 33-12 margin over the Natomas Nighthawks on Friday with plenty of help from Corey, who rushed for 211 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 115 rushing yards per game.

Rio Linda didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of CJ Cook and Louis Means. Cook got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Rio Linda now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Natomas, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Rio Linda will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Casa Roble at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. As for Natomas, they will head out on the road to square off against El Camino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
