Asheboro scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against the Williams Bulldogs, falling 66-43. The Blue Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2021.

Despite the defeat, Asheboro saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Adalynn Scherer went 6 for 8 on her way to 16 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scherer has scored all season.

Even though they lost, Asheboro was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Jordyn Taylor, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and four steals for Williams. That's the most points Taylor has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Harris, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Asheboro and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Williams, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Asheboro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 39-32 win against Chatham Charter on the 27th. As for Williams, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-43 loss against Southwestern Randolph on the 27th.
