In what's become a running theme this season, the Moapa Valley Pirates gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They blew past Mater Academy East Las Vegas 65-37 at home. Winning may never get old, but Moapa Valley sure is getting used to it with their tenth in a row.
Claire Cox was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Haylie Western, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Mater Academy East Las Vegas still got an impressive performance from Victoria Rubio-White, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brookelynn Thomas, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Moapa Valley posted 18 assists.
Moapa Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Moapa Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they will head out on the road to face off against Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chaparral comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 16 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
