The Pomona Panthers's ten-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Alameda 69-25 at home. Pomona's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Pomona's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sammy Gleason, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gleason has scored all season. Joshua James was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
Alameda's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donavyn Lopez, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camilo Diocares, who scored five points.
Alameda struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pomona racked up 15 assists.
Pomona's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Alameda, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pomona will face off against Standley Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Standley Lake is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Alameda, they will head out on the road to square off against Evergreen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Evergreen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Saturday.
