The Lake Region Rangers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Montpelier, falling 80-42. Lake Region has not had much luck with the Solons recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Montpelier's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Cody, who scored 23 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Clayton Foster was another key contributor, going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assist.
Lake Region's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Montpelier, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
Lake Region will head out on the road to challenge the Lancers at 9:50 a.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Vermont (Lamoille is ranked 30th, while the Rangers are ranked 35th). As for Montpelier, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hazen is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
