On Tuesday, Calusa Prep had to suffer through a rough 85-49 loss at the hands of Western. While losing is never fun, Calusa Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while Western is ranked 102nd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Western to victory, but perhaps none more so than Calvin Thompson, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Thompson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Lawton Wasser, who scored 15 points.
Calusa Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Western, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5.
Calusa Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Palm Glades Prep Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 10th. As for Western, they will take on South Plantation at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
