Baseball Game Preview: Ocoee Knights vs. Circle Christian Centurions

Ocoee has gone a perfect 3-0 against Circle Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Ocoee will be playing at home against Circle Christian at 6:00 p.m. Ocoee's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Friday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Ocoee's offense. They came up short against Mount Dora on Thursday, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Circle Christian). They never let Holy Cross Lutheran Academy get on the board and left with a 34-0 victory on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Centurions as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

James Stalions and Grant Lion made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Stalions pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lion pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stalions has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Stalions went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, three runs, and two doubles, while Lion scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Lion is becoming a predictor of Circle Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-9 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Circle Christian got a massive performance out of DJ Williams, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs and four RBI. Circle Christian is 2-1 when Williams posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Auld, who scored five runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Circle Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Ocoee's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Circle Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.

Ocoee took their win against Circle Christian when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 17-5. Will Ocoee repeat their success, or does Circle Christian has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
