A feisty cat fight will be fought as McNairy Central Bobcats challenge Trinity Christian Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. McNairy Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, McNairy Central came up short against Adamsville and fell 6-2. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
McNairy Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Case Stone, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Stone is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian Academy wound up with the same score they had in their last game (6-5), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Trinity Christian Academy also got a good showing from Cason White, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Zane Atwood was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Knox Atwood also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Trinity Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. McNairy Central suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 6-3.
Trinity Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. McNairy Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Trinity Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will McNairy Central keep running through batters, or will Trinity Christian Academy buck the trend?
McNairy Central couldn't quite get it done against Trinity Christian Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2021 as they fell 12-8. Can McNairy Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
