East is 9-1 against Central since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The East Thunderbirds will look to defend their home court against the Central Indians at 5:00 p.m. East will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
East put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 60-20 victory over South at home. Given East's advantage in MaxPreps' Wyoming basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while South is ranked 48th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Central's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Laramie 53-47. Central found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up seven fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Central got a solid performance out of Karson Tempel, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylin Wade, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
East is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
East was able to grind out a solid win over Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 77-67. Will East repeat their success, or does Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
