The Omaha R Roadrunners's game on Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 43-34 victory over Wichita Defenders HomeSchool. This was payback for Omaha R, who suffered a 44-39 loss the last time these two teams met.
Leading Omaha R to victory were Michael Wiedemeier and Stephen Vankat. Wiedemeier scored 10 points, while Vankat scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Vankat has scored at least 25% of Omaha R's points.
The win got Omaha R back to even at 1-1. As for Wichita Defenders HomeSchool, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Omaha R will take on Varsity Opponent at 1:10 p.m. on Saturday. Varsity Opponent knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Omaha R likes a good challenge. As for Wichita Defenders HomeSchool, they will be playing at home against Newton HomeSchool at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
