The Yorba Linda Mustangs will square off against the Upland Highlanders/Scots at TBD on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Yorba Linda had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against the Coyotes as they made off with a 7-2 win. Considering Yorba Linda has won seven matchups by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Upland kept a clean sheet against Mountain View on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Vikings. Given Upland's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 171st, while Mountain View is ranked 450th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Upland hit Mountain View with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Nicholas Giron,
Luis Meza, and
Gavin Sampognaro.
Yorba Linda is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-6-2 record this season. As for Upland, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4-4.
