The Wiley Panthers lost against the Syracuse Bulldogs back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Wiley took a 41-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. Wiley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wiley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rachel Kopasz, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals. McKenzie Mapes was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Wiley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Syracuse, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wiley will challenge the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cheyenne Wells focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Saturday. As for Syracuse, they will head out on the road to face off against the Jackrabbits at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Greeley County is ranked 211th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 201st).
