The Glen Rock Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the St. Mary Gaels at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Glen Rock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Glen Rock was able to grind out a solid win over Pope John XXIII, taking the game 13-8.
Sean Spitaleri made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Spitaleri was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on J Spitaleri, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Morrissey, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Glen Rock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.
Cliffside Park typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday St. Mary proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Red Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Gaels have posted since April 16th.
Glen Rock's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for St. Mary, their record now sits at 12-8-1.
Everything went Glen Rock's way against St. Mary in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Glen Rock made off with a 16-4 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Gaels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
