After a string of five wins, Ponder's good fortune finally ran out  on Monday. They took  a  3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sunnyvale. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Sunnyvale earlier this season, when they won  2-0.
 Ponder started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-14, 25-22,  25-17.
 Kennedy Simon paced Ponder's offense, picking up 28 kills. Simon got some help from  Zoe Dishman and her 42 assists.  Makaylee Ruiz controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Ponder's defeat dropped their record down to 26-12. As for Sunnyvale, they pushed their record up to 37-4 with the  victory, which was their sixth straight  at home.
 Ponder has already played their next matchup,  a  3-0  win against Life Oak Cliff on the 30th. As for Sunnyvale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  match,  a  3-0  victory against North Lamar on the 30th.
