In what's become a running theme this season, the Red Cloud Crusaders gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lakota Tech 81-43 on the road. The win was just business as usual for Red Cloud, who after eight games remain undefeated this season.
Red Cloud was led to victory by Ashlan Carlow-Blount and Jodene Hunter. Carlow-Blount scored 17 points along with three steals and two blocks, while Hunter scored 26 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunter has scored all season. Mya Mills was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the defeat, Lakota Tech saw an underclassman step up: Shania Ferguson scored 22 points along with three steals. Ferguson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Waln, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Red Cloud's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Lakota Tech, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Red Cloud will take on Custer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Custer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Red Cloud is ranked tenth). As for Lakota Tech, they will be playing at home against Hot Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hot Springs has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
