Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 4 on the offensive boards, a fact the Clover Blue Eagles proved on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-47 win over Spring Valley. For Clover, this counts as revenge for the 65-62 defeat Spring Valley walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Jaylon Hoover was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Owen Galeota, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Spring Valley still got an impressive performance from Joshua Nelson, who scored 20 points. Caleb Temoney was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Clover's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Spring Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Clover will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fort Mill at 8:00 p.m. Fort Mill knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Clover likes a good challenge. As for Spring Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Nation Ford at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Nation Ford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Tuesday.
