Basketball Recap: Earlville Extends Winning Streak to Three

Earlville waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Illinois Math & Science Academy Titans 43-22. This was a revenge game for the Red Raiders: when they faced off against the Titans back in November of 2024, they had to take a 35-26 loss.

Earlville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bailey Miller, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. Those 14 points gave Miller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Audrey Scherer, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Earlville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.

Earlville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-16. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points per game. As for Illinois Math & Science Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Earlville will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Alden-Hebron at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th. As for Illinois Math & Science Academy, they will take on Somonauk/Leland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
