Ardrey Kell had won four straight home games dating back to last season and Krithik Erusappan did his part to make it five on Thursday. Ardrey Kell won by a set and slipped past Weddington 3-2 for which the team can thank Erusappan, who had 16 digs and two assists. Those 16 digs gave him a new career-high.
Ardrey Kell got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-30, 25-18, 20-25, 25-14, 15-13.
Meanwhile, South Mecklenburg came up short against Palisades on Thursday and fell 3-1. The Sabres haven't had much luck with the Pumas recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
The final score came out to 25-18, 25-9, 23-25, 25-16.
Ardrey Kell will have to contain Phoenix Modie as he made an impact in South Mecklenburg's last game. He had 20 digs, 12 kills, and seven blocks. Modie has been hot, having posted six or more kills the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Balen Spry, who had 11 digs and two assists.
Ardrey Kell's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for South Mecklenburg, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.
Everything went Ardrey Kell's way against South Mecklenburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Ardrey Kell made off with a 3-0 victory. Does Ardrey Kell have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Mecklenburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
