The Jersey Panthers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 80-49 loss at the hands of Edwardsville. While losing is never fun, Jersey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while Edwardsville is ranked 67th).
Jersey's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Francis Vogel, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Brunaugh, who scored ten points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Jersey has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Edwardsville, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Cahokia the next time they take the court. Edwardsville will head out to face Cahokia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Jersey will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
