In this week's postseason power rankings action, one team rose to the occasion while another fell hard. A special shoutout goes to Lafayette Jefferson's sophomore Maximus Grimes, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
NorthWood's 46 - 35 win over East Noble last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Bronson Yoder. Yoder earned three touchdowns and 337 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Yoder one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Center Grove (6th in the power rankings) and Columbus North (21st) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Center Grove put the hurt on Columbus North with a conclusive 42 - 0 victory. Center Grove found its leader in an underclassman: Carson Steele ran for 183 yards and also punched in three touchdowns, which was enough to make him one of the team's best players.
No Stoppin 'Em
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Michigan City last week (their 6th in a row). Everything went its way against Munster as it secured a 72 - 19 win. At 53 points, that marked Michigan City's largest margin of victory so far this year. The combined 91 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Avon (8th in the power rankings) and Brownsburg (2nd). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Brownsburg and Avon both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Brownsburg with three and Avon with five), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
