Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Sierra Pacific Golden Bears, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 41-7 loss at the hands of Coalinga. Sierra Pacific was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Landon Mckee threw for 30 yards on five of 17 attempts. On the ground, Zack Lee Young rushed for 27 yards.
Coalinga can attribute much of their success to Noah Tasi, who threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Coalinga also got help from Dylan Teixeira who showed off his sure hands for 123 receiving yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Sierra Pacific to a paltry 52 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Coalinga's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out six times before it was all said and done. Angel Hurtado was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself.
Sierra Pacific has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Coalinga, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
Sierra Pacific does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Coalinga will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Torres at 7:00 p.m. Torres is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
