Mooresville is a perfect 10-0 against Greenwood since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pioneers are taking a road trip to face off against the Woodmen at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Monday, Mooresville made easy work of Bloomington North and carried off an 11-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Aubrey Todd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mooresville let Pailyn Blair and Tatum Humphrey run wild. Blair went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Humphrey went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave Blair a new career-high. Maddie Pierini also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Mooresville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bloomington North only managed seven hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Greenwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Warren Central on Monday by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Woodmen haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Tessa Hammons made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hammons was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Gracelyn Bowles was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Clark, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Mooresville is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Greenwood, their record is now 5-12.
Greenwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mooresville has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Greenwood, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Mooresville's sizable advantage in that area, the Woodmen will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mooresville came out on top in a nail-biter against Greenwood when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Woodmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
