Having just played yesterday, the Chiefland Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Lafayette Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chiefland's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Lafayette's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Chiefland is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Hawthorne just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Hornets, falling 52-29. The contest marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brianna Bell, who posted ten points and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 47 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Na?Zyiah Span, who had ten points.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lafayette). They blew past Hamilton County 70-27 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Hornets who have now won five matchups in a row.
Chiefland better focus on containing Sophia Kendrick and Kiley Beach as the pair were huge in Lafayette's win. Kendrick dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds, while Beach went 9 for 19 en route to 25 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Kendrick a new career-high in steals (six). Jada Copeland was another key player, putting up 13 points and five steals.
Lafayette smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 29 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Lafayette's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 44.7 points. As for Chiefland, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Chiefland has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lafayette struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Chiefland beat Lafayette 37-27 in their previous matchup on January 10th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chiefland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
