The Stewarts Creek Red Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the Oakland Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Stewarts Creek 2.7, Oakland 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Stewarts Creek will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Blackman, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Red Hawks came out on top against the Blaze by a score of 7-2 on Saturday. The Red Hawks haven't had any issues with the Blaze recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, Oakland entered their tilt with Wilson Central on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Wildcats 12-2. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Kyleigh Higgs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Jazmyne Watkins and Chloe Aaron did most of the damage at the plate: Watkins went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Aaron went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Watkins has posted since back in April. Jada Ellison was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Oakland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in nine consecutive games.
Stewarts Creek's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Oakland, their record is now 24-5-2.
Stewarts Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Oakland when the teams last played back in April of 2023, winning 5-0. Will the Red Hawks repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
