The Murray Tigers will challenge the Webster County Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Murray took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 22-12 margin over Dawson Springs. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Shia Mcnutt was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Teegan Miller, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
Murray kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They got six more hits than Dawson Springs' also-impressive total of 11.
Webster County never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Owensboro on Friday. They put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 15-2 victory.
Layla Scott was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Scott was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Webster County got a massive performance out of Alyssa Cartwright, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Natalie Eversole, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
The win got Webster County back to even at 1-1. As for Murray, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
