Basketball Recap: Lakeside Piles Up the Points Against Wellpinit

Lakeside won the last time they faced Wellpinit and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lakeside Knights couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 82-53 blowout they got against the Wellpinit Redskins. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Lakeside to victory were Tyson Charley and Preston SpottedHorse. Charley went 12 of 26 on his way to 29 points along with seven assists and seven boards, while SpottedHorse went 12 of 21 en route to 30 points and six assists. The contest was Charley's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallah Peone, who posted 13 points along with seven assists and five boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Lakeside was working as a unit and finished the game with 30 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lakeside has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Wellpinit, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Lakeside will head out to take on Lapwai at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Lapwai likes a good challenge. As for Wellpinit, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Oakesdale at 6:00 p.m.
