The Murray County Indians were the 64-44 winner over the Rockmart Yellowjackets when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Murray County fell just short of Rockmart by a score of 70-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Rockmart to victory were Samuel Johnson and Treylin Davis. Johnson scored 25 points, while Davis dropped a double-double on 26 points and 16 rebounds. The match was Davis' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Atkins, who scored seven points.
Murray County's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Rockmart, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murray County will face off against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 401st, while Murray County is ranked 132nd). As for Rockmart, they will head out on the road to face off against Chattooga at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
