Basketball Recap: Gateway Charter Piles Up the Points Against North Port

Gateway Charter won the last time they faced North Port and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Gateway Charter Griffins claimed a resounding 65-35 win over the North Port Bobcats. The Griffins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 25 points or more this season.

Jazmyne Trubina had a dynamite game for Gateway Charter, going 7 for 11 en route to 17 points along with five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Rosario, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 13 points.

Gateway Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Port only racked up five assists.

North Port's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rhiley Richards, who posted nine points. Yaritza Sheppard was another key player, putting up six points.

The victory made it two in a row for Gateway Charter and bumps their season record up to 12-8. As for North Port, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway Charter will welcome East Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gateway Charter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season. As for North Port, they will take on North Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Fort Myers' defense has only allowed 27.9 points per game this season, so North Port's offense will have their work cut out for them.
