North Kingstown has gone 8-2 against La Salle Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Skippers will face off against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. North Kingstown is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
North Kingstown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: East Providence, who was ranked fifth at the time (North Kingstown was ranked first). The Skippers put the hurt on the Townies with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday.
One reason for the win was North Kingstown's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-16, 25-15.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Kingstown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stephen Dufour, who had seven digs and two assists.
North Smithfield came into Monday's matchup looking for another win against La Salle Academy, but Ty Cotta wouldn't allow it. The Rams blew past the Northmen 3-0 on Monday thanks in part to Cotta, who had 13 digs. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 12 or more in each of the last nine games he's played.
La Salle Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept North Smithfield between 14 and 17 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-14, 25-17.
La Salle Academy now has a winning record of 9-8. As for North Kingstown, their victory was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: North Kingstown has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.6 aces per game. However, it's not like La Salle Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went North Kingstown's way against La Salle Academy when the teams last played back in April, as North Kingstown made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Skippers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
