After a string of eight wins, the Woodward Academy War Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 64-56 to Hillgrove. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Woodward Academy still got an impressive performance from Deke Cooper, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Cooper's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Foster, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Woodward Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3. As for Hillgrove, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Woodward Academy and Osborne will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Osborne is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Hillgrove won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Oxford is ranked 96th in Alabama, while Hillgrove is ranked 99th in Georgia).
