The McCook Bison's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 59-52 to Scottsbluff. While losing is never fun, McCook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Scottsbluff is ranked 27th).
Scottsbluff found their leader in underclassman Nate Kelley, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Esai Sabala, who scored ten points along with two steals.
McCook has not been sharp recently as the team has lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Scottsbluff, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McCook will face off against Cozad at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cozad will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something McCook surely won't give up without a fight. Scottsbluff is on the road again on Friday and plays Gering at 7:00 p.m. on February 16th.
