The South Harrison Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wirt County. South Harrison was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wirt County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
Wirt County found their leader in underclassman Braylan Dawson, who scored 20 points along with four steals. Dawson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Connor Hoover was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
South Harrison's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-9. As for Wirt County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
South Harrison will head out on the road to face off against Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wirt County, they will be playing at home against St. Marys at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (St. Marys is ranked 67th, while Wirt County is ranked 71st).
